Broken plastic housing on remote key

I've broken the little plastic loop on the main remote housing that attaches the key to my '06 Sport. Its completely annoying have them separated. I haven't explored a factory replacement, but was wondering what my options are for a replacement and subsequent programming.

Thanks much!

I would just use some JB Weld or epoxy to "rebuild" the loop. It might not be as pretty as a replacement, but it will work well and will be MUCH cheaper than buying a new one.

If you do go this route, just make sure you get something that will bond to the plastic on the remote. If not, it will eventually fall off again.

If you really want to get dirty with this project, duct tape it .

I appreciate the links Chaz! The whole loop snapped off, so no option to "weld", but I appreciate the idea Glock. That reminds me to put a roll of duct tape in the truck.

Thanks again.

Yep, no problem. Epoxy putty would fit the bill the best if you do end up going that route, as you can mold it exactly how you want it shaped and will bond to the plastic very well. Even if the entire loop is snapped off, the epoxy putty will create a whole new loop. Or, you could just lightly sand the end of the broken remote, then put a good amount of epoxy on the end so you can drill a hole in it for the keyring after it cures.

You could just buy an after market remote, and epoxy a new loop on the old one so you have a good backup remote.

And yes, keeping a spare roll of duct tape in the truck is a must.

Key Fob replacement

If the insides of the key fob are still good. You can buy a replacement cover on Ebay for $7.00. Just did it, looks identical and was easy.
