Broken Radio - Fixing Question

I have a stock head unit in my truck at the moment so I use the cassette player with a cassette to aux wire for my iPod. Recently whenever music was not playing (the song on my iPod came to an end) the cassette player would eject the tape. Then a few days ago the player ejected the tape even when playing music. I tried putting it back in and it kept ejecting the tape. Now the tape gets ejected as soon as I put it in.

Ill try messing with it but to fix this I may end up getting a new head unit but what do I use to adapt the wires from the truck to the new head unit. Will a typical wire converter from Walmart work if it says "Toyota" on the converter case. I have never done this type of swap, in past cars I have soldered all the wires back together which is unnecessary if I can get the right adapter.

It may not be your head unit or cassette player, it could be the cassette adapter. If it has been used quite a bit, it could just be getting worn out and is starting to bind up. Does your cassette player have auto-reverse? If not, this could be the problem. I've got an adapter I use in my truck that I feed the output from my portable iPhone XM radio through. I've had it for years and it is starting to mess up more and more often. My deck has auto-reverse, so instead of ejecting the cassette, it just pauses and reverses - not unlike old 8 track players used to sound like when they jumped from one track to the next (if anyone here is old enough to remember those). It's irritating but my iPhone XM unit also has an FM transmitter in it, so I can always switch to that. If the cassette adapter is sufficient for you, you could buy another one and try it. Less than 10 bucks at Wally World. I bought my daughter one to use in her 3rd gen until she gets her new head unit for her birthday next week (with ipod adapter/control). Once we get that installed, I'll confiscate her newer cassette adapter and put it in my truck.

I was going to buy her an ipod adapter that plugs into the back of the stock head unit and actually charges the ipod as well, but I decided to just get a new double din, exact fit head unit instead for not a lot more money.

I tried many different tapes and all were rejected so its not the tape itself but thanks for the input!
