Broken rear wheel stud

I broke the wheel stud off trying to remove wheel. I just bought this rig, changing out wheels. 21mm and break bar, didn't put to much on it( no standing, cheater) then snap. How bad is this? Can I go pick up kids till I can fix this or am I hosed? Please and thanks

I've been wheeling my truck on 35s for quite a while with a broken stud, you should be fine.

I saw a Nissan titan with 2 nuts missing. Worst case is those two are adjacent nuts and is in the front wheel! The driver is a lady and she was concerned about her makeup while stopped for red.

Me, personally? I'd have no concerns driving like that for 1,000 miles or more. Torque your 5 good lug nuts down, +5ft-lbs, and fix it whenever your schedule allows.

P.S. I think factory req's are 83 ft-lbs for our lug nuts. I torque all mine down to 90 ft-lbs.

Thanks yall, just put 265/75/r16 on, ends up that 2 nuts were seized, 2 broke. But able to get one nut on broke stud. Will used studs off a gen3 rear axle work or new only. I have the used studs on hand. Should all be replaced at once or am I fine just fixing broken studs?

Others can chime in about replacing with a used stud vs. new; I don't know. I can say that you are good just replacing the broken stud. No need to replace any others that are fine.

I don't know if you mentioned which wheels you broke the studs on. The front and rears are different lengths (I am 99% sure anyway).

Also if you do have access to an auto parts store they are very cheap parts and likely in stock. I have replaced a broken stud myself. I used a Dorman replacement and just replaced the one. I bought a couple of each to have in the spares kit for next time and grabbed a couple clean nuts from the wreckers too.

I'm sure you could live on 4, maybe even 3, and never know the difference. Personally, I'd never go off pavement with 4 or less though

Just an update. Bought 2 new studs from Toyota @ $6+ apiece, pulled drum, punched out stubs. Then used washers and a lug nut to repress new studs. Thanks, this is harder to think about than do.

Most likely yes, I've seen a couple builds over on Ratsun where guys run 2 out of the 4 lugnuts on their cars (For style points I guess) and never seen one reported failure, but I'd personally fix it as soon as I found it if it was on my vehicle.
