How I fixed mine

Hey y'all,

In the process of replacing my thermostat one of the bolts for its housing snapped. It snapped so close to flush that I can't use the double bolt trick. Any other ideas? I tried removing the entire thermostat housing (water pump?) by removing the two most obvious bolts with no luck. Feeling pretty defeated...:ybrick:

I did the exact same thing changing the thermostat on a gmc. Mine snapped off nearly flush.

I was able to remove the bolt fairly easily using a dremel grinder and a flathead screwdriver. Be sure to have a steady hand and not damage the smooth surface around the stud. Cut a straight line into the stud and back it out with a short screwdriver. I went and picked up a new stud from my local orielly's. Hope this helps someone..

Brilliant dude. I wish I had you a month ago. Ended up taking to the mechanic and they did the weld trick. This would have saved me 150 bucks :cry2:

Yeah that sucks.. I'm a newbie here, but hopefully this helps someone else..

Buying this stud remover was the best $20 I've spent in a while. Took all of 10 seconds to get the broken bastard out.
