Brushguard issue

this past christmas we purchased a Aries stainless steel brushguard online that is "for" the 3rd gen's and tacoma's. We attempted for about an hour 1/2 to get the brushguard to fit with the brackets. after screwing it on..I noticed it is not as snug as other brushguards I've seen. I would like to have it up a little higher and closer to the grill...any suggestions on what i should do?

I've never heard of abrushguard to fit BOTH 4Runners and Tacos... Are you positive it is for both? And can you maybe get a better pic/one of the brackets?]

Is this what you mean by "snug"?
