Buckles' Trailer Build

I am really having trouble finding OEM rims. The ones I do find are $275 each. None of the junk yards have any 4Runners. They all say when 4Runners arrive, they last just a few days.

Looking at American Racing, also at 16" rims, as these are the cheapest and tires are reasonable priced on this size.

When I do fit the axle and trailer, will make sure the 4Runner spare will fit, on the back side. Does anyone see a downside to this?

What size are your 4Runner wheels/tires?

Looks great, how many hours has your uncle put in?

Just as many hours as I have. He has been super helpful with the welding and letting me use his shop.
We have been working for almost 3 weeks with about 3 hours a day, 4 days a week give or take.

Why not go with a 17" wheel on the trailer?

The reason is I am buying new rims and wheels, there are good prices available on 16" rims and tires. Jumping to 17" is about a 50% or more price increase, I am trying to watch the spend on this project

Thanks,

I think I have settled on the Timbren axle less system for my design. Will require a change on the sub frame cross member location, but will give me more flexibility.

Well I found some rims, some Tacoma rims, 16", these will have to do. A good deal on them, some scratches, but I can take care of that.

When fitting the axle, will make sure the 4Runner wheel fits on the backside and the fender clearance, and will roll with that.

Decided against the Timbren set up, very expensive and my design does not accommodate the mounting set up. Will have to make a number of changes to make it work. Will stick with the 3500 LB axle under spring set up.

Buck,

Please post some more pictures.
