Bud Built Skid Combo

So Bud Built has a combo deal. Today is the last day for free shipping. Still undecided if I should get the set. It is still not cheap and they are heavy. Wanted to know how hard oil changes are with them on. I take my rig to a dealership for oil changes. I'm thinking I will have to take the skid off for them if I continue to go there. I like the fact that it protects the cat from theft also (somewhat).

My biggest concern at the moment is I might in one year do a Central and South America trip in the 4Runner. Trying to save up $$$ for the trip and not sure I will need the skids for the tip as they would weigh down the rig. Skids would be nice in the mean time with the sharp AZ rocks.

Still undecided.

I believe you do have to take them off for oil changes. I ordered the combo skids from Savage offroad (Roy actually called me yesterday to say they were done...AND he's dropping them off for me!). The Savage skids come in multiple pieces so you only have to remove 1 small panel for oil changes.

Of all the times I've been off roading, I only really needed it once or twice (bashed my oil pan in my old Nissan Titan). Really depends how much "rock climbing" you do. That said, it is very comforting to know you have protection down there, which is why I bought them.

I just ordered them $500 shipped to my address.

If you're doing light wheeling, disregard this

If you plan to really bash these skids, I would request (unless you can do it yourself) extra bracing / gussets on the front bend. I bashed mine enough that the mounting holes no longer matched up. I had to cut the plate, re-bend, and re-weld to get it to line up again.
