Here ya go!
Here are my thoughts and experiences.
I originally had Shrockworks sliders on order, the order lasted 4 weeks and I started to think about how ridiculous it was to be waiting so long for these sliders... some have reported waiting up to 4 months for Shrockworks products.... pretty nuts.... not me.... its just some bent up steel tubing welded together!!!
I cancelled the Shrockworks order and started to look at other options for sliders. Budbuilt came up a few times so I checked out Bud's website (budbuilt.com) and gave Bud a call to see what he offered as far as lead times for his products. Amazingly enough, Bud had a whole bunch of sliders in stock and ready to ship. Done deal, I ordered the BEEFY sliders for my 2011 Trail Edition and had them at my door here at the opposite side of the US in a week.
Upon inspecting the sliders, I was very, very, very impressed with the design, craftsmanship and quality of the sliders. The welds are beautiful, the tubing is nicely bent, no kinks, and they came with good quality hardware.
The install...
I opted against the powdercoat so when I recieved then, I sanded them down, wiped them with Acetone and painted them with Rustoleum truck bed liner spray. An awesome product, sprays on like paint but offers a nice, grippy, protective surface.
Luckily I had a forklift to hold these beasts up to the frame rail during the install which I did alone as they each weigh around 70 lbs +/-. The install when very smooth and they bolted right up. The passenger side went on in around 30 minutes and the driver side went on in around 1 hour because a bunch of the KDSS crap had to be moved out of the way.
I am very satisfied with not only the Budbuilt sliders but also with the service. Bud was a pleasure to talk to and answered all the questions I had and was glad to do it.
Not to plug Budbuilt too much but it was nice and refreshing to deal with a good old fashioned American company who provides an excellent product.
