Budget suspension for better ride?

My 4runner has mostly street duty with the occasional dirt road. Looking for something inexpensive and maybe get a car like ride.

Right now I can definitely feel that my stock shocks are done and the ride over speed bumps and potholes it like I'm riding in a wagon.

I was looking at Bilstein 5100's but if there are any better options and also if I should change the springs?

Unless your springs are badly sagging, a good pair of shocks (like those 5100's) will give a nice improvement to the ride.

so the bilstein 5100's will work with ome 881/906 lift. im doing same lift soon but can't decide on shocks. ome shocks are way expensive imo and im going to be 99% onroad so also looking for good highway shock to go along with ome springs. ??? also do you have the part number for the bilsteins 5100 that work for our 4runners. i have a 97 2wd
 
If you are getting lift coils, you should get extended shocks if you're replacing them anyways. The stock ones will work, but some of the travel will be limited and the price difference for the extended shocks is well worth it IMO.
 
even if im 99% highway driven. occasional dirt road if camping. also im 2wd so no offroading for me. ome shocks are expensive if i dont really need their full purpose offroad abilities.??

Well, the stock shocks will work AFAIK, they just won't allow as much flex as the extended shocks will.
 
exactly for looks. i also have a little bit of sag on rear springs so why not just get ome springs to replace. i love driving down the road seeing lifted 4runners. i don't care if they offroad or not. and maybe down the road i might want to throw sum 33s on it for "looks" so might as well be prepared for it. so would you guys still get extended shocks in my situation or stick oem. thanks

I ran the stock shocks for a while when I added the OME springs. The ride was really bouncy. I found a really good deal on some Sky Jacker 2.5" lift shocks on E-bay, then went to my local Napa store, and they matched the price. I actually paid a little less, and it was shipped within a week! The New shocks cost me about $110.00 Canadian funds.....taxes included!
 
There are no magic suspension kits that will make your rig ride well and for cheap. Go at least with ome or better yet, Sonoran Steel kit. If you cheap out, don't expect a good ride.
