Orbital buffer/polishers.
Hey Corky...I'm a new and firm believer in orbital buffers! I used one for the first time in my life to compound and wax my new-to-me 4Runner last week, and what a difference it makes. Not just in the finished job, but in the time and energy to do so. I bought a cheap $20 six-inch model at Menards, extra applicator and buffer pads, and a bottle of Meguiars Ultimate liquid compound. Applied and removed the compound to that squeaky-clean feeling, then followed up with a double application of Meguiars #26 Hi-Tech yellow wax. I have always hand waxed my vehicles, thinking that a "machine" would be too cumbersome to be effective, but that 6" wheel makes tidy work of even the smallest places, and my joints no longer require their own application of ibuprofen afterward. To insure I've visited every painted surface satisfactorily, I go over the truck with a micro fiber towel by hand just to know it is glass smooth. A very worthwhile investment and only wish I had done this years ago! :ybrick: Just remember these important tips. Don't apply compound or wax in direct sunlight or on a hot surface, and do NOT use dishwashing detergent to wash your vehicle. The agents in Dawn, Ajax etc. will strip your freshly applied wax right off. Buy a product intended for automotive use. I hope this helps you in your decision. :cheers:
