Bug Deflector, is this one a good deal?

That one looks like a good choice. I'd prob. go for weathertech but the AVS should be good as well. Do these really do that much? I've never understood what the real point is.
 
^^ $41 seems like a good deal.

However, anybody got the OEM bug deflector part #, for a year 2000 SR5 with the Toyota Logo embossed (in the corner) ??

This is exactly what i want it for, I just bought my truck about 3 weeks ago. Noticed some chips on the hood.

I don't really love how it looks (will probably grow on me) but anything to keep the paint nice and value up haha.

My stock one cracked a few years ago & it didn't have the Toyota logo in it. It was made by AVS. The AVS is the same as stock.

Do you like rock chips in your hood? Plus I think these trucks look naked without them. The front of the hood isn't that stylish.

If it's acrylic and it cracks you can fix the cracks with methyl chloride, it is a very volatile liquid that looks and flows like like water or acetone, that evaporates quickly. Use a hypodermic needle to inject near the crack and it will wick in and melt the acrylic, and re-bond it.

Available at plastics suppliers.

YES I love rock chips... I just feel like the rest of the hood, the front of the bumper as well as the grill is gonna get blasted just the same. I'm sure it obviously helps on the front edge of the hood. Not hatin', just curious what the benefit was being it only covers a small portion.

The AVS curves up & saves the whole hood & curves around the tops of the front fenders too. If your grill & bumper are plastic then you dont have to worry about rust when the paint chips off.
 
[MENTION=7105]Scramble[/MENTION], you and I might actually be the few regulars on this site who rock one. I too think they look naked without them. Maybe not so much in pictures, but in person it looks weird. At least on my truck to me it does.

LOL, After 15-16-17 years in the sun they get very brittle, turn brown & look like crap. Just buy a new one for $41 LOL
 
Just bought that very same one from Amazon. $35.42 after $10 mail in rebate. Like it but it does not extend over the front fenders. I also put some 3M tape where it fastens to the hood because it seemed a little loose to me.

Thats the wrong one then if it doesnt wrap the fenders.
 
23041 is the part#. Looks good I think even if it's less protective. I'm sure there is an AVS bugshield that wraps the fenders but it might be more expensive. I went cheap cheap CHEAP. Would have liked an OEM though.
