Buggy whip

Has anybody attached a buggy whip (mast and flag) to their truck for driving in dunes? I am looking for suggestions on how to do this.

I work at a mine and the odd contractor on site has a 4runner for a site vehicle. All I've seen actually use a hitch thing that just goes into the receiver and has the whole spring and flag come up off that. Simple and easy to take on and off.
