Welding on round tube is a bit tricky, but those will hold well. I would slow down a little and do a bit more of a zig zag or even a circular thing. Keep that puddle hot and moving. I love your truck. That 2.7 is the best 4 cylinder that has ever been produced imo. I love the scenery shots too, good work!

Installed them. I fit them nice and tight with a pretty good angle (20*). They still stick out plenty far from the body for the country I wheel and even to fend of parking lot damage. Although now I almost want a wider wheel, because of the kickout width... Hmmm, maybe some LC wheels....

Occasionally when work has me all stressed out I take a day off. I then seek some artistic release. Painting is good for this. I find myself more adept at painting "happy little 4Runners" than trying to paint "happy little trees" or "happy little birds" (...viva la Bob Ross...)

I'm probably gonna catch a little hell from the die hard fabricator crowd if this ever gets out; but that's 3/4" EMT (electrical conduit). It's light and plenty strong for a couple hundred pounds of gear.
But be really careful welding it or anything with a galvanized coating since it's pretty toxic if you breathe in the fumes.

I really like where you're headed with this, and your ingenuity should be commended! In addition, I really dig the hammered brown that you chose for your cargo tie down rack, it goes great with the interior, and gives me ideas for the (future) sliders/bumpers on my T4R. I don't subscribe to many build threads, but I'm tuning in to this one...nice work!

I finally found enough to time to get the Savage bumper installed. Love it. Now let the swing out build begin! (Then a front bumper after...)

No paint yet. I am gonna add a couple things to it, like my swing-out hinge and catch, so I needed it mounted so that I can place them correctly. I will paint after, probably will match the sliders and wheels (dupli-color graphite).
Its a great bumper, well built and I really like the look. From the Savage website it looks like its gonna be replaced when he introduces his hybrid to match his newer style front bumpers...

Well, ladies and gents the swing out is on its way. No going back now either since I just cut a chunk out of my perfectly good Savage bumper... ( this was not a light decision, there was a good bit of trepidation in my mind as I fired up the grinder)
But don't kill me just yet, because that chunk of fine fabrication was right where I needed to put this...

Great work there, man! I was looking at those Savage bumpers and almost pulled to trigger on a front AND rear. Would have hurt the ole' pocket book, but revived my idea of a beautiful truck.

Swing out stage 2; finished a math final exam around 3 pm today ( ....just the way I wanted to spend my Saturday...) so I rewarded myself a little and made some progress
