My vehicles can really be an adventure sometimes.
My Tacoma was really giving me troubles all through the fall. I got a really nice Mid-Travel setup on it and I really had it dialed in ride wise, it flexed great, and rode great and I really was getting to like that truck, but it was destroying tires way too fast and I couldn't get it to align. Eventually I found that it had a bent frame, and since it was my wife's ride she wouldn't have it. The bent frame, traffic driving the 6 spd manual, and the 15 mpg really took their toll on my lady's patience. So we sold it. (Don't worry, I disclosed everything to the new owner, he was fine, since my price reflected the issues, just wish someone had been that honest with me when I bought it.)
So then we bought Wifey a Rav4, it is incredibly cute (..gaghh..) and oh so gas pump friendly when compared with the Taco. But I think its super uncomfortable, especially since the wife wants to take it everywhere now because it does do well on gas. But MPGs be damned if my back can't take it!!! Plus who really wants to make a payment.
So my co-worker has been trying to get me to buy his 99 Limited for about a year now. But Wifey always says we don't need another car, and I already have a 3rd gen, and it's old, etc. On top of that it needs some serious engine work, as well as some deferred maintenance items, and some dress up. But it has great bones, no rust and is in otherwise very good shape. So the other day co-worker-man says; "look I need this thing out of my yard, $600 bucks, do you know anyone?" And of course I think to myself yeah, he's me! But I start making some calls to my bros and telling them about this helluva deal, but nobody bites (I apparently need new friends, I mean C'mon!?!). And then, the shock of my life, my wife is like "Why don't you get it and fix it up for me. I miss the lifted Taco, and all of the bad-assery of driving Red, minus the manual trans. Lets get it and sell my car." Yep, I was texting my buddy before she was done, "I'll take the 4Runner, I can get it this weekend."
So much winning in my life right now. A build thread for the Wife-Mobile will ensue shortly...
