Bump Steer??

I have a 2005 T4R and I'm having an issue with "bump steer". Whenever I hit a bump my runner will jump to the left or to the right, sometimes a considerable amount depending on speed and size of bump. I have new tires and had it aligned and also had ball joints replaced. Has anyone had this issue and what should I be looking at? Shocks? Control arm bushings? It doesn't happen 100% of the time but more often then I'd like. At times it's been dangerous if your going at a higher rate of speed. Any help would be appreciated!

Check your lower control arm i recently did mine. Had the same issue. I put energy suspension bushing and fixed it. Their were shot.

does it do it more when going around a curve, or corner? in either case, how old are the shocks/struts. I expect they are done.

I had this problem on my 2006 SE V6, kinda scary on the highway. Felt like she might jump into the next lane on large bumps. XREAS was shot at 120k miles and problem went away when I replaced shocks. Not a cheap fix so maybe your solution lies elsewhere. How many miles are on your suspension? Do you have XREAS?

There is about 105k miles on it. It does have XREAS but never noticed it leaking at all. I'm sure it's original, it will do it around corners or in the straight away, doesn't matter .I really want to make the FJ coil change over so maybe that will cure it ? Thoughts?

Update!!

I did the FJ Cruiser coil swap , got rid of the XREAS system and its like night and day the difference it made. Much smoother ride and no more "bump steer"! And gained about an inch lift. Should have done it ages ago!
