Bumper fitment

85straight

I was wondering if anyone here knew what is the difference on the front end of an 85 vs 86+ I can get a decent looking front winch bumper for cheap but its off an 87. Everywhere I look for a front bumper (addicted,4xinnovation , trailgear, etc) it shows that 85 vs 86+ are different fitments. I was thinking that it's just the mounting points are different.ideas anyone?

The two bolts on the crossmember itself are in the same location, but the upper mounting points on the little towers are at different heights and slightly offset - you'd have to move those on the bumper or on the crossmember. Look at the bolt patterns on the 4xInnovations frame brace to see what I mean. Somebody (maybe Scotty at Addicted? Not sure.) was telling me that there's a difference in body height vs the frame as well, so you could end up with an ugly gap or interference between the body and the bumper, depending.

All of that can be fixed with a welder and an angle grinder, it just depends on how much work you want to put into it.

Thanks for the informative reply.

That much I did know, just wanted to figure out if it would be worth the effort.
If I get it I'll throw up some pics, because at $50 it's hard to pass up
