bumper recommendations?

Hey Guys...

Looking for advice on an aftermarket front bumper...

1) Don't need an elaborate ARB winch/fog light bumper; maybe down the road, but for now I just want to upgrade my stock bumper that has some bumps & stratches. If it doesn't have pre-drilled holes for fog lights, I can do that myself.

2) Hoping for one that can be installed without being a Toyota engineer. I have air tools and jacks, but don't want to spend a whole Saturday and tear the entire front off of my truck.

3) I'll check performance parts and other resources, but I'm looking for some 1st-hand experience.

Thanks in advance!

so you are looking for this bumper for strength or looks? if you want it for strength but dont want to put down to get an ARB bumper, TJM makes a good bumper like the ARB for a couple hundred less if my memory serves me correctly, as for looks, i wouldnt be able to help you there, but much luck in your search.

i know there are a few places that sell the tjm's. pat161 just put one on his rig, and i think it was still well below $500 even after shipping. he had it in rather quickly, and i guess it lines up really nice too.

As Bflooks stated I recently added a TJM to my 2000 and love it, it makes the front end look very agressive. I got mine for $389, I know you can get one from a YT member for that price. They are easy to install, though definitely a two man job. Intrepid from YT helped me and we used a method with two hi-lift jacks to really snug the bumper up to the fender, really shouldn't take more than 4 hours even the first time. If you are anywhere within 50 miles of Worcester MA I'd probably be willing to help you with the install.

Thanks for the great advice, Gang.

I just forked over $$ to switch to fully synthetic (Valvoline) in the auto trans, diffs, and t-case, just bought a new battery, etc., so I think I'll lay low for a month or 2 before springing for a bumper. Gotta keep the truck budget reasonable or the Wife pipes up....

In the meantime, I dressed up the stock bumper (which had a few stratches, dings, and a couple of holes where fog lights were) with about 20 bumper stickers from my local bike shop. Amazing how they hide the ugly stuff, and I kinda have a cool Nascar look for now...

Great temp fix for scarred bumper...
