bumpstop upgrades?

I was under the impression that the are supposed to work together before you bottom out.

Well I ordered the wheelers super bumps for the front. Ill give a review after I run them.

what's the difference between the stock front bumpstops of 2001-2002 and the 1996-2000 4Runners? Just asking because there was a change in the part numbers between these years.

Bump stops will not limit your travel.

WRONG... Bump stops can and do, limit your travel, and thats why I went with low profile stops up front, allows MORE uptravel, atleast it does on my rig

Both of our bump stops are the same length when compressed. I just use a softer material. You have a harsh bottom out. Good luck with your metal on metal contact. I doubt you have ever bottomed out your suspension or you would know how ridiculous that sounds.

I have an idea. Maybe you should take your bump stops off completely. You will have tons of up travel. Let us know how that works out for you.

I run King 2.5x2 up front. Probably could have gotten by with 2x2...

That's a *****in setup but I don't have LT so there is less room to mount them like you did. Someday I'd like to get on your level though.

Thanks man! I do think you could get 2x2s in there without too much trouble. Mine are mounted out about ~2" from the frame to meet the LCA pad. On non-LT, you could probably get them closer to the frame and it shouldn't interfere with anything.

I was just looking at my rig and I might be able to mount it towards the rear of the LCA and just make a strike pad that may hang off the edge of the LCA a little bit. So far I haven't found any non-LT 3rg gens or 1st gen Tacomas with hydro bumps.

Anyone using Energy Suspensions 4.5" for the rear? Stock is 2.5". These are 5.5" uncompressed and 4.5" compressed. I might give them a go.

I'm using the Daystar 4-1/2" Competition bumps in the rear. I think they are softer than the energy suspension ones. Mine compress about 2" roughly. Maybe a little more on hard hits but I have no way of verifying that.

Not sure how the bump stop extensions work but the bolt on the Daystar Bumpstops are bigger than the nut on the frame. I had to drill mine out to fit.

I found that out last weekend when I went to install them. Instead of drilling them I'm going to get some 2" bar stock to use as a cheap makeshift extension. Then I can just drill two correct size holes in the bar stock. I figure my extensions will be about 5 bucks total. lol
