Burning oil smell?

I've got a '92 3.0 and lately it's been having a burnt oil smell, but only while slowing down from a high speed (off the highway for example). It's a pretty strong odor too, and it's worrying me. The oil level stays pretty consistent, I mean I have to add some every now and then but nothing bad. I can't see any leaks or anything like that, but it'll have a bad smell. Has anyone ever had this problem before? Or anyone know what may be causing this?

Could be a number of things, check you valve cover to look for tarnish, make sure your oil filter has a good seal, check your cam seals, or even your rear main seal (however you probably wouldn't smell it from the rear main)

Bottom line is any number of things could be leaking oil on to the engine and burning it up, I'd clean up the engine as best you can and try and figure out a general area and that'll help us help you a little better

Look carefully at the exhaust system. Depending on where the oil is leaking from that will give you a starting point.
