Burning Oil!?

Hey guys. So at 160k miles im finally starting to have problems.... the first one is that I dont have a 4bt in my 4runner yet.... (just had to get my personal issues out of the way).
Next is, I noticed some cruddy oil buildup on the outer edges of my valve covers. I tightened the bolts but the passenger side seamed to get worse and at idle id get small drips of oil coming from the valve cover and dripping onto the intake manifold creating some nice smoke under the hood. I replaced that sides valve cover gasket (easiest to get to) and accidentally cracked the cover when tightening it back down. Small crack, I sealed it up with gasket sealer and it seems to have worked. But now, when I drive down the highway, (70-80mph 2500-3000rpms) I can smell burning oil. When I accelerate to pass or fro stop at a light, I see a faint smoke blow out of the tailpipe that fades out as it get to my cruising speed.

Valve seals are one problem that im thinking but people say they only get the smoke after the vehicle has been sitting. Theres also some oil buildup on the back of the engine block. Its all crusty, looks wet, but nothing drips.

Any ideas? Thanks. I can try and post some pictures if that helps

frist thing you need to do is clean that moto real good. degrease it you need to get all that dried up oil sludge off it. then fix all oil leaks. that's most likely where your oil burning smell is coming from. it may allso be where your smoke might be from when your taking off from a light. if you do all of this and still have smoke and oil smell then I would do a compression test and go from there.

Got everything cleaned up and found out theres a crack in my valve cover thats letting the oil drip onto my exhaust manifold causing the oil smell. (goodie) as far as the smoke, my buddy was behind me when I merged onto the interstate and said it looked like I was rolling coal (but white) when i hit the high rpms. it only does that under load, wont do anything in park or neutral, and regular takeoffs its becoming more seldom, but if i hit it, it just lets loose. any thoughts? valve seals? head gaskets? Should I just do a cummins swap already? lol
