Burning smell + smoke when I turn the heater on??????

Hi everyone,
Just wondering if this has ever happened to you? I have a 1995 4runner,auto with air......the past couple of days I turned on the heat(front) and after about 5 mins of driving with the heat on full I start to smell a burning smell. I don't smell it when I turn the heater off. The heater started acting up a few weeks ago........turn it on and it doesn't work.......push the switch over to the highest speed and then push it a little more and it turns on.......now it only runs on high not speed 1,2 or 3. I checked the blower motor and it's fine..????????? Can anyone help me?

Just to add more...............the smoke was coming out of the engine compartment, right behind the motor, against the firewall. I couldn't tell where it was coming from. I turn off the truck and of course it stops.

Maybe have a bunch of leaves, or mouse housing down in the blower motor? May need to open it up and clean it out.

I took the blower motor out and it's fine, a little dusty but that's it.

smell like electric burn or leaf/wood burn?

Electrical or rad fluid.

I just ran the truck for 1/2 hour and all of the speeds are working, heats blasting out, no smoke & a little bit of smell.:wtf:
