Burning through Gas...HELP

Ok guys. Here is the deal. I just changed the battery on my 84. The terminals were corroded so cleaned them up. Now it appears the battery is working ok, and starts fine.

Now I seem to be burning up gas at a unreasonable rate. I checked my air filter and it needs to be replaced i think. But would that cause me to use $30 in 2 days of freeway commuting to work in PDX?

other suggestions? or ideas to help milage

How far is this commute?

Definitely do the air filter. Just did mine the other day. Also did all fluid changes, new plugs and wires, oil filter, and fuel filter. Don't know how much each of those things are attributing to the better fuel economy, but it sure drives better and I'm not getting 12mpg anymore, so I'm happy.
