Burnt valve prevention?

Is it possible to prevent a burnt valve issue? It might be a bit too late for my 2.7, but I've been reading about them burning valves and requiring a new head/rebuild and apparently it's very common. There is an excellent video from Timmy the tool Man on YouTube on adjusting the valves, is that the proper way to prevent a burn up? Or is there something else I should try and do, assuming I don't already have a burned valve since I have a rough idle issue that I can't find.

Valve adjustment is the only proven prevention for burnt valves

EDIT: they do make some top end engine cleaners that you can use to try and clean the back side of the valves. I’m not a believer of it but some people are. Beware that it is known to kill catalytic converters if they aren’t in good condition.

The more I think about it, I probably really should check the valve clearance on my donor 2.7 while its sitting on the stand before dropping it into my pickup. Sucks I slept on the good valve tool on amazon and the are no longer available though

Not a bad idea. I know its a pile easier to to valve cover gaskets etc with the engine on an engine stand.

When I redid a v6 i was going to throw in my 1997 limited resealed the engine and changed the timing belt etc along with both main seals. We even redid the oil pan gasket.

Quiet valves are tight valves, and tight valves are burnt valves. Keep them adjust and keep them ticking.

Don't supercharge it. Heat can make the valves fail prematurely.
