Bushing replacement question???

Hello ~ New to the forum and looking for help. I have a 2000 4-Runner; daily driver with 205,000 miles on it. My front sway arm bushings are mushroomed out and needing replaced. I'm sure that this is not the first post in regards to this issue. My question is... what is the best replacement parts, do I need to lift the vehicle to replace, and what other issues may I run into during the project.

Your main issue just appears to be rust. I think you need to PB blast (PBlaster is a liquid wrench type product) the nuts for a few days, then try to loosen them.

The energy sway bar bushings can be found at wheelersoffroad.com I believe.

You wont need to lift the vehicle. Its pretty straightforward: Unbolt the c-shaped mount and pull them off (they are cut in half so you just pull it off).

yeah....Mine look like that too....been looking on E-bay at these Poly bushings.....anyone know if these are any good???

I'd be emotionally prepared for the PB blaster not to work. Each bracket has one stud and one welded nut that are held on by a free nut and a bolt, respectively. It's pretty easy to snap either the stud or the bolt.

The brackets were like $12 each at the dealer. I lost one due to a snapped stud, and I had less rust than you do. On the other side I snapped the bolt, but I was able to save the bracket.

I've heard good things about the Wheeler's bushings. I myself just replaced them with Toyota OEM at the same time I did my sway bar links as well. The brackets are a pain to remove. I gave them a good gallon of PB Blaster and still had a tough time. I had major grief with the one next to the exhaust pipe, couldn't get any leverage on it so ended up going to my mechanic to get it torched off.

Yeah I would be prepared to replace those. Also I hope you have small hands and a real tiny socket wrench with a good extension. I have big hands and it took me forever to get in there and actually get it done.
