Took it back to the dealer - they were unable to find a replacement.

OK - I'm no veteran 4x4 or toyota guy, or a mechanic, or a clock expert.
Let me get that out of the way before any hard core experts out there rip my face off again.

But - can I just buy one and just bring it back to the dealer to install?

Is it physically broken, or does it just not work?

Looks like part number 83253-35110 if you're lucky or 83290-35110 (which also includes 83253-35110). If it is in fact either of those options, you're looking at a max of about $70 for the part. That being said, you'll save a ton of money if you do it yourself, and there are a number of good tutorials here on how to remove the radio.

How does a dealer come back with being unable to find a replacement on a vehicle a little over 2 years old on a product they both sell and service? This doesn't make sense. I'm curious as to why they would say that.

Yeah no kidding, sounds like they need to find some new guys to work the parts counter.

I would look for a new dealer........

One that knows how to use the internet preferably. There is this new thing called google...works great for finding stuff.

Just buy the part and install it yourself.

I doubt the dealer will be in favor of installing a part you bring to them. They wouldn't get any markup on the part that way.
