I apparently have fallen victim of the infamous breaking Clutch bracket. Does anyone know if Toyota has a recall on this? I have seen TONS of threads about it, none more recent than 2011. Or are my options only DIY and either new or getting it welded all to heck?
Thats what I have been hearing, if ya got the $$ get a new one...but I don't sadly. And this is my daily driver too...so extra fun! I have most of the left hand side of the interior torn apart and almost have the frigging thing ready to be wrestled out....*sigh* yay!
Thanks for the perpective Jonny!
No kidding...I have it about 90% percent done....but a question. When you did yours...when did the bracket actually feel "loose?" I have all the master cylinder nuts and bolts off...both the pins for the break and clutch are out of the way and from what I can see there is only two more bolts to go, and the thing feels like it is still locked in tight. Are there spot welds that I am unaware of?
I will double check....had to have a Guinness break to bet the blood pressure down a bit.
Done and done with the booster....but it would appear there is still something holding it in there. RE: Red arrow pic....
ITS OFF!!! And what a MAJOR fsckin pain! I have NO idea if I can actually get it back together. But at least it is off. Considering how awful it was to remove...I think I will just wait a couple of weeks and just get the new and improved one when I got the $$. Thanks millions for the help ya'll!!
Also...everything else on my little 3.Slow is built to take a missile hit...why in the name of Zeus would Toyota use such flimsy metal? :ybrick:
