buttons not lighting up - defrost / ect / rear window

Not sure why but they don't light up. I just did the LED swap and thought this would fix it due to blown bulbs but it didn't.

No cuts in the wiring into the unit. I actually had to take it apart to set the new bulbs into it properly. Nothing looked amiss.

All 3 switches work properly and the defrost lights up when turned on but the new LED bulbs don't light up along with the others.

Any ideas? I'm not sure what's wrong with it. I could swear they worked when I first got the car from my brother earlier this year but I can't be sure.

Either they are in backwards or you got some bad LEDs

Those neo wedge bulbs are a bit tricky to install. Insert and twist. And, polarity is important. Take it back apart, make sure they are twisted in properly. Test before you put it all back together. If still not working, you need to flip 180 degrees and reinsert.

I had the same problem, I had to twist mine in a bit more, if I remember it was clockwise.

thanks. I'll give it another go on Sunday and try flipping them 180deg while I'm at it.

I had to do that with the other bulbs that I had installed in the climate control. Took me 4 tries before i could get all 3 to work.

Yeah most likely they are just in the wrong way. Before putting the dash back together, test them and make sure they are seated properly. There is a quality difference among led manufacturers. The ones I got from Superbright had crisper edges while the Chinese cheapies from Amazon had plastic "hanging chads" and had to be forced into place more.

P.s. I had to replace my ECT led because it came undone after driving down some bumpy roads and disappeared into the cavern behind the dash. After installing the new one I placed a strip of masking tape over the openings (where the LEDs go into) so if any loosen again they will be caught by the tape.

Good idea on the tape. I took it apart again today and marked them with a red sharpie so I knew which direction I had them in. I flipped them and it worked fine before I put it back together. Just bad luck the first time around. Thanks!

My LED's are in there very tightly. I had to take out the entire bar first before taking out the backing of the unit. Then I could finally take them out. Even loosened, they didn't come out very easily.
