Buyer confused by v8 4x2???

Hi all, i apologize in advance if this is a complete noob question or i posted this in the complete wrong section. Im trying to buy a 4th gen runner and from the research ive done so far it seems like everyone is saying the v8 models come with fulltime 4x4. However many of the cars posted in my local listings are v8 but only seem to have 4x2. There is also not the 4wd setting knob in the pictures. I tried to search this but came up with no luck. Is there a v8 with 4x2? or is the hi/lo settings just in a different place? Thank you in advance, sorry for being a noob.

you can get the v8 4runner in a 2wd, and 4wd. but, with the 4wd its full time 4wd, you can never switch it to just 2WD.

There are 2wd V8s as well as V6, I believe.

I always think of them as 2Runners. Never understood the point of a 2WD SUV. Essentially just a really big car. Probably costs less than a 4wd version I guess.

if i was to go with a 2wd it would have to be a v8.

side note... there is only one 2wd/4wd 4th gen v8 on here but only because of a 4wd conversion, otherwise its 2wd or awd/4wd
