Buying 4runner - help

Hey guys, searched around a lot, but couldn't find an answer. I'm looking to buy a 07 4R with a little over 100k. It's at a dealership, and they said they just replaced the transfer case, but didn't go into detail. Should I be concerned that it was replaced? It doesn't seem like a common thing from what I've gathered from the forums.

Thanks

It wouldn't bother me. They probably just noticed that it wouldn't go into 4LO and fixed it. It's a fairly common problem if someone drives it for 100k without ever using 4LO.

+1 on no big deal. Between the linkage seizing and solenoidleaking, there are enough problems that might result in a transfer case swap, but don't affect the rest of the drivetrain. 100k is nothing on these rigs.

IMHO them replacing the transfer case is a big plus, because as mentioned if it never get shifted into 4Lo it gets stuck and doesn't shift properly, the transfer case also tends to develop a leak after some time and now it means as long as you put it into 4Lo at least once a month you should never ever have any issues with the transfer case for many, many, miles to come!!

Is it a V6 or V8, if a V8 ask if the timing belt has been done, because it should have been replaced as a maintenance item at 90,000 miles, if it's been replaced it's good for another 90,000 miles from the mileage it was replaced.
