Make sure he carefully reads the policy...very carfully. An extended warranty is a form of insurance, and just about any insurance type will exclude items known about in advance of buying the policy that weren't disclosed to the maker. In fact based on the fairly high dollar amount you're talking about, in some states it might be considered insurance fraud and a felony.

Well if thats covered under warranty then all he has to do is get the warranty and say it broke.
But he should just get an aftermartket unit, which will be better then the oem nav system and he should be able to save $1200 or so and no need for the warranty
