buying a new limited but have questions...

i have looked on here for a few days now and have not seen a build thread with a limited 5th gen that has been lifted. im going to sell my 2014 Focus St and put all that money down on a new limited.
anyways my question is when it comes to mods which i know there are a lot (previous 4runner owner) is the limited just not a desirable 4runner to build or what?
because that is my plan is to give it a decent lift and some minor exterior upgrades.

There's a number of us with Limited's. The rear locker, higher clearance bumpers, and lower initial price of Trail/Offroad models may be why you don't see as many. I don't know about desirability, in my mind I upgraded when I went from a trail edition to a Limited, depends on what you value.

Love my limited and it’s perfect for everything I do. Have a nice Toytec Boss lift. It looks awesome at the mall.

You might want to read the running boards thread. Apparently they are a common failure item on the Limiteds after a while and not cheap to fix.

I don’t think you can get the automatic running boards in some regions. I tried my best to get some in Louisiana when I bought mine. Now i’m glad I couldn’t, as I just put sliders on yesterday lol. Minus the rear locker, there’s nothing on the limited that makes it less off-road worthy than the other runners mechanically. Just have to watch for the lower hanging trim.

I saw a pretty awesome Limited just before Harvey hit. I mean, it looks like he has a pretty good "decent lift and some minor exterior upgrades" lol. Saw some photos of him helping out during the floods :thumb:

I just purchased. Limited 7 passenger in Canada, and the running boards do not move, which is good. The only thing I find with them is that they don’t quite stick out far enough. When I try to get out, I will sometimes kick the side because I’m trying to find the running board to step off.

Like many elude to, avoid the auto running boards. No matter the truck, they will eventually seize if you have road salt in the winter. Happened to my mountaineer before I traded it in for my runner.

Well we live in north Idaho but we’re moving to Arizona in the near future. We have 3 kids so a three row will be a must and leather seats.
I pretty much want a 2-3 inch lift. Nothing crazy I just am not a fan of the front bumper on the limiteds. I do like the TRD style one so later in time I’ll probably switch it out for one if it’s possible. We have a 2016 F-150 lariat and I know the 4Runner is kind of a dinosaur as of technology so the limited fits my needs better then the others.
And I know I can search but what’s xreas suspension?

Xreas is a cushey suspension and it's worth reading up on to determine if it's right for you.

I agree that it's smart to compare the different packages, but just so there's no confusion the Limited has real leather, SR5 and TRD models have Softex. Limited has power ventilated seats as well.

Toyota's website lists the differences between packages, memory seats, touch-sensor door handles, front and rear parking sensors, and auto headlights are a few of the features that come to mind.

1. Dual zone climate control. I don't believe this can be cost effectively added on due to all the in dash duct work and what not.

2. The exterior and interior style. If you love chrome and wood trim, this one's for you.

3. You want all of the accessories included. The limited is an expensive upgrade and unless you want it all, you can probably just add the few upgrades you want and have $ to spare.

4. Full-time 4wd. If you must have it on a 4Runner, the Limited is your only option. (thx [MENTION=119896]Jspark[/MENTION]ey)

Good points. Full-time 4wd should belong on that list as well, it's the primary reason I got a Limited and, for me, represents a lot of value. I seriously considered building up a base SR5, Limited ended up winning out. I agree that both options make sense depending on your needs though.
