Buying first 4R opinions please.

First off I wanted to say thanks for everyone on this site being so informative. I have learned a lot in a short amount of time. Keep it up!

Now to get down to business this is the link for the one I am looking for:

1998 Toyota 4Runner 4cyl, 5spd Sport/Utility

I feel like he is overpriced about a thousand dollars. KBB has it in the low fours.I will go and look at it tomorrow and ask about maintenance. It does have most things from my wish list as it is a manual with lower miles and a locker.

Let me know what you guys think, your opinions matter.

I think this is a very rare find.
4 Cylinder, 4x4, locker and 5 speed.

Don't get fooled by the miles, one can ruin an engine within 200 miles if he don't use the right oil in the engine. While the engine is running, pull the engine dip stick out. Look for any sign of oil/vapor/smoke coming out (caution: don't put your eye right on top of the dipstick tube!!!). If you see any of these symptoms, engine is bad (known as "blow-by").

T-belt replaced?

pretty sure the 4cyl is chain driven so no need to worry about the timing belt. Why do you think it has a locker? I didn't see it say that it had it in that ad, and in the interior pic it has the "Toyota Security" light installed where the normal easy button is.

lol yeah it looks like it's missing up front.
the back seats look gross.... for $5500+ I would pass on this one. I think 4k is more reasonable, or 3500

I may have been mistaken about the locker.. yeah it is an odd deal witht the carpet up front. I will have to check it out, thanks for the advice. Ideally I would like to get the 99 sport in a 5 speed with a locker, that has been taken care of. Is that too much to ask

try to get low miles whenever possible. low miles are king.
