Buying first T4R. Good Price?

Put this in the new member area, but I think it will get more attention over here.

Looking at an 08 V6 4X4 SR5. It has the dark interior which like. Also has rear entertainment and a few others I don't see often. Also ran the VIN through Toyota and found a complete vehicle maintenance record!! The prior owner took it to Toyota every 6K for it check ups. To me that is awesome and adds piece of mind to the purchase.

I am looking at a final price of $19k.

Good deal?
Have to drive 2.5hrs to look at it and get it if I pull the trigger. Been looking for a while and this one def stand out.

Mileage is just under 80K. Haven't seen it in person yet, but they claim it is the cleanest 5 year old vehicle they have ever had come through. The interior is also the light grey leather not the black cloth...just to clarify. Don't care for leather, but don't really care.
 
Do it , just make sure fluids, diff , actuator works , look at it all drive it listen for leaks (exhaust) you know kick the tires !
 
I paid $12.5k for my 2005 Sport V6 with 85K on the odometer. This was in Omaha, NE. I think you're paying a lot for the market.
 
I paid around 14 for my 08 Sr5 4wd 2 months ago. 94k miles. I think I did decent. No signs it had ever been off road but 4wd works fine and the never been off road statement is no longer true :)
 
I got them to come down a little more and with the maintenance history and the excellent condition I think I'm going to pull the trigger.

I have waited long enough and have not come across a better deal with a well equipped 4runner. Sound like you guys got decent deals though. I can tell at the 90k mile mark prices do drop a bit, but the wife doesn't like the look of 90, but apparently 80k is ok:confused:.
 
A little over a year ago, I paid $20,000 for a 2007 V6 Sport edition w/leather and all the toys. I know I paid "market," but feel I got my money's worth. Have driven it to CA and back (to Maryland) since then without a single leak or problem, did some serious 4-wheeling in the San Gabriel mountains and have loved every minute of it.

I'm not suggesting that you voluntarily overpay, but if the truck is clean and tight and leak free, then IMO it's OK to pay "market," since the truck itself will last nearly forever with minimal problems.

Well after driving all the way to KC with my wife and 10m old, 3hr drive from here, I met the car. Had a few issues the salesman neglected to mention including two small rust spots on the gate. Did some quick calling and found out the body is still under warranty so I'm ok with that. Then I noticed a small crack in the corner of the windshield...not happy he didn't mention it, but it is on the very bottom passenger corner and 98% of people probly would have missed it.

Now, what pissed me off the most were the tires. I was told over the phone the tires were 60-70%. They were more like 20% with dry rot. to the point I worried about the drive back. Needless to say I had gone down there with the check already made out for the amount so I gave them an ultimatum....after discussing how unsatisfied I was that I drove 3 hrs only to discover the vehicle had issues not discussed I left them with two options

1. $100 check for my time. (As agreed to before)
2. $700 check for tires and I take the car.

They took number 2.

SO I now have a Galactic Mica Grey 98 4Runner. Probably my favorite of the colors. Pretty excited right now.
 
I will say going a $43k truck to this does kinda suck right now.....I will get over it soon enough. Wasn't using the TRUCK and tired of payments.

Congratulations on getting what you wanted, and getting the best deal out of the situation..

PS: Oh and yeah, Subjectively the BEST darn Color on the 4th Gen :naughty:

Sounds like a pretty good deal. I bought a 08 sport, urban runner 2 weeks ago for $19.5k. It had 68 k miles. Black exterior, new tires, 2 small dings in the windshield. Records from the first owner, as it was a lease. No records from second owner. It was in Lincoln, NE. Must of been driven on a dirt road, a lot of little dings in the paint, but now I don't have to worry about it. I came from a 11 hemi jeep gc, like you, got tired of high car payments. Anyway, the 4runner has been great, amazed how with the mileage and years not a creak or squeak when driving. have fun! Where are you from?
 
Congrats Miller! I think I saw that V8 when I was looking for mine in KC. Picked up my V8 a few weeks ago. Few in the area with lower miles. Was the timing belt changed? If not, expect to do that soon as well as the water pump....while they're in there.
