Buzzing/Vibrating Brake Pedal

Mine felt like it was pressurizing something too, and I felt different strengths of pulsating too. Its been fixed for 6 months now and I only drove it for 2 weeks, so I could be off on the sound but I think we had the same problem.
Good luck with the fix if you decide to go that route.

Its my understanding that the brakes are assisted with an electric pump instead of using engine vacuum. The noise you are hearing is the pump priming to build pressure after the brakes have been applied. So, you will hear this noise upon startup, and shortly after depressing the brake pedal. you will notice this sound more during slow speeds due to the lack or road noise. What you are experiencing is normal.

Reviving this thread because my 2017 TRDP developed this issue Saturday afternoon with ~3,000 miles on it whereas it didn't do it before. To be clear, I'm not referring to the "whoosh" noise the brakes make--I've had that since day one and apparently that's normal.

A few things to note:

1) I test drove a 2016 Limited with ~300 miles on it that had this issue and it was very pronounced to the point where I thought the brakes were defective.
2) I test drove a different 2016 Limited with 180 miles that did not have this issue at all.
3) My TRDP did not have this issue at all until this past weekend (~3,000 miles on the odo)

I was up in the mountains this past weekend. Parked at the ski resort on Saturday morning and left around 3pm. On the drive in there were no issues. As soon as I started it with my foot on the brake pedal when leaving at 3pm, I felt that weird vibration. It has continued to do it ever since and happens in two scenarios:

1) When I'm sitting there holding the brake pedal at a stop it will occasionally do it at random.
2) Any time I lightly apply the brakes, regardless of my speed, it will vibrate. It doesn't seem like an issue with the calipers/pads/rotors, but rather something inside the hydraulic braking system.

I don't think this is normal. I'm going to take it to the dealer this week and see if they can diagnose/fix it.

Sorry for the delayed response. It still does it even though I know it didn't do it when I first bought it. I have since gotten used to it and rarely notice it anymore though I'm certain it happens pretty much all the time. Just one of those things...

Sorry for bringing up a old thread. Recently got a SR5P and it does this same vibration every other depression. My research lead me to think of the Master Cylinder but I am not trying to go down that 3k road to hell. Does the vibration require immediate attention? Is this normal or what lmao

Hi, I know this thread is old, but I am having the same issue on a 2016 4runner I recently purchased. When I am driving and I brake, I feel/hear like a click/thump/vibrating and then I can hear the electronics working. It happens very often. Did any of you get to the bottom of this issue?

Sorry for bringing up a old thread. Recently got a SR5P and it does this same vibration every other depression. My research lead me to think of the Master Cylinder but I am not trying to go down that 3k road to hell. Does the vibration require immediate attention? Is this normal or what lmao

The vibration is normal. As much as I thought I would never get used to it and it would always distract me and thought Toyota was stupid for designing it that way, I barely notice it anymore. It still does it. Brakes great for such a large vehicle. Just bought new OEM pads for a full brake job. I have nearly 67k on it. Not bad for original brakes and I live in a hilly area...
