Thanks! Getting my dual swing out C4 too and have the baja ladder figured I could play around with it once I get the bumper but didn't know how well the double side tape on the ladder would do with me adjusting the top and bottom after it had already been placed....

Its been awhile but yea I think i followed their directions on placement, but there is some play there so you can adjust it a bit, as long as your able to tighten the bottom up.

Well I have a single swing arm so i dont know how different they will be for clearance? As far as the double sided tape, you can always clean it off and put new tape or foam if you need to move the ladder. Its extra work but whatever it takes to be done right
 
A couple of notes about install for people who haven't done theirs yet.

1. Instructions don't say what hardware to use to install the body filler pieces. Use the 5/16 button heads even though the video says 1/4, there isn't nuts and washers for the 1/4" hardware if you were to use it there.

2. Remove the metal pieces on bumper that held the factory bumper cover in place. The bumper will go on with them there but you can't open the cap on the trailer plug. You cannot remove the top bolt when the bumper is in place.

3. The swing arm bolts take a 1 1/8 socket. You can use a piece of 3/4" PVC pipe inside the socket to keep it from bottoming out on your fresh powder coat.

4. The pinch seam is directly above one of the nuts one the side braces. It is very hard to tighten those up. You may want to hammer that pinch seam over just to make it easier on yourself.

5. License plate light... stay tuned, haven't done it but I think I have a plan. I ordered some weatherproof automotive plug from amazon so I should have a good way to remove the fixture in the event I need to get to my spare.

Thanks emailed C4 and looks like the single and double swings have the same clearance I think the only part I’m nervous about is how much closer the Baja ladder is to the edge of the door where it sticks out about 3.5 inches making contact with the swing arm...

Hey everyone, I know there have been some install questions and tips in the thread. Thanks for posting those up. We worked on a new install video over the weekend that now includes how to wire the backup camera and license plate light. We included a lot more details than the first video so it should be a lot easier to follow along. We will be editing it together and getting it added to the website in a few days. This video should help answer any other questions.

WOOHOO just in time for my install this weekend.
 
I absolutely can not wait for my bumper to get here. I still have about 7 weeks if they are on track with estimated completion dates. Just curious....what are people paying for powder coating? After watching the install video like 10 times, im noticing a lot of pieces that need to be powder coated. Ive gotten a few estimates ranging from $700-$1200+ based off some images.

Shouldn't be more than $350 or so. If you wanted to save a few bucks you could rattle can a lot of the parts underneath and powder coat the outside parts.

Got one quote for sandblast and powder coat for $300, another with sandblast, phosphate wash, masking and powder coat for $800 I’m leaning towards going with the one with phosphate wash and masking, but I have no clue if it’s actually worth it...

I know the place that quoted me $700 does the phosphate wash and masking. Im not sure about the others who quoted me though. Anything that isn't visible I plan on blasting with a spray can though to save some money.
 
I paid $700 for cleaning, masking and powder coat all the parts of the bumper minus the aluminum pieces in the Bay Area, CA. I too was a bit sticker shocked.

Yeah. That’s making the SSO look a tad better. Outside the cost of the coating is the major PITA spend a few 1/2 days going to and from and lugging the steel around. Ordering soon. Was thinking C4 all the way but still liking the SSO, and it’s a grand plus 2k of my time cheaper!!
 
What im doing is having C4 send my bumper straight to the powder coater so once its done there I only have to pick it up (actually a shop is installing it for me so they are going to pick it up, so no extra work from me than buying from another company that powder coats). Also I got bumpers before that were already pre powder coated and noticed some rust coming through the powder even before it got to me in the very edges around the tubing. I kind of like the idea of being able to determine what quality of powder coat goes on my bumper as I am hoping to not have to remove for many years due to rusting.

To me the SSO and C4 are two very different rear swing outs (other than them being full replacements) I just can't get over that tailgater new design (unless im tailgating a lot it looks cumbersome and even if I were to put food and items on the tailgater to reach in and grab items you have to move them to the side especially to get my dogs in and out of the back during dog events. C4s customer service and response to emails and IG messages have been A+++ vs SSO who became very defensive when I brought up a comment that the tailgater wouldnt work that well in my situation with my dogs. just my .02

I liked the SSO initially but then the reality of reaching that far for everything every time got me thinking that it would be an annoyance more often than a convenience. If I had a slide out tray I may feel differently, being short sucks... lol

I'm happy with the C4 but there are a few things that seem like they could be welded in place rather than bolt on brackets. But maybe not...
 
Another piece of the puzzle. I ordered some “weatherproof” plugs from amazon so the plate can be removed to get to the spare.

Well, I’m not nearly as smart as I thought... turns out the plugs don’t fit through the hole in the bracket. We’ll just call that one a practice crimp. Anyways, after un-“F”ing that got everything routed and spliced into the trailer plug. Now I need to pull the bulbs from the factory license plate light because that looks weird glowing in there. lol

i got my shipping notice this week. planning to get it PC too, where did you go? I'm getting the same estimate, wished C4 PC, it freaking expensive in the bay area for PC...
