Hey there! I recently picked up a '98 T4R, original cali car with 1st gen trd blower installed by the dealership before original sale. AFAIK. The car has 160k and just passed smog with flying colors, less than 10% of the limit on all categories in both fields.
I have been searching and researching on here about fuel upgrades and such for this kit. My question is about the effect of these on emissions and C.A.R.B. legality. Since im in cali, i obviously have an egr in place right now. removing this to do the 7th injector SEEMS like it would make it not pass inspection. Now, i have a guy that will overlook visual stuff and as long as the numbers are good out the pipe he will pass me.
I definitely want to do something for the fuel, i get some pinging if i really go full throttle, and sometimes a tiny bit of choking in the midrange when the car is very warm. i def want to replace the fuel filter, and im wondering if anyone can give me any advice on if i should go with the urd 6 injector upgrade and leave the egr alone, or if i should go all out and go with the 7th injector? assuming its still CARB legal. its important that i can still pass inspection.
I'll say that im not looking for booku power or anything, just for stage 1 type upgrade so that it runs properly and all. i know its always beneficial to upgrade everything, but im not looking to get into headwork or tons of electronics. the truck runs great as is, but it could run a little better. I'm willing to drop a couple to a few grand into getting it there, but not 5k+, looking for a beast, not a monster.
