Cali Raised LED Light Bar Bracket behind Grille Review

I haven't seen a review for these brackets so I figured I might as well post my experience with it given I took a shot in the dark with these.

I just installed the Rago LED 31.5" Light Bar Hidden Bumper Brackets the other day and I now realized I should've taken pictures of the installation. Here is a link for anyone insterested.

I will try to take pictures of the bracket installed on the truck sometime next week since I need to make adjustments (it's calling for rain all of this week and I don't have a garage).

The bracket is very nice. I like the fact that I don't have to drill into the bumper reinforcement and get nutserts, etc. I did, however, have to trim the air dam on both the driver and passenger side. I made little slots so that it just slides in, as opposed to hacking up the whole air dam.
Fitment is OK. It bolts up no problem but the bracket protrudes past the bumper line (if that makes sense). I had to trim my grill since it was pressing up against it pretty damn hard and was preventing me from bolting up the top of the bumper.
The hole where the light bar mounts up to is a slot, so the light bar can be moved forward and aft, which is nice.

Overall, the bracket will require you to trim some things (grille and bumper, if you are really OCD). I personally didn't trim the bumper and just let my bumper sit right against the bracket.

I know it's not too much help without pictures so I'll be sure to take pictures next week when I make adjustments to it.

EDIT: added just a few pics of the trimmed grill and also where the bracket rests against the bumper. Doesn't look that bad from picture but it is enough to "deform" the bumper when installing. Fine with me but maybe not for some. I will add pics of the actual bracket later this week.

EDIT: corrected the manufacturer. They are from Rago Fabrication.

Yeah, I would like to make my own also, so that it sits exactly the way I want it to, but I just don't have the time or the resources. 12hr/7day work schedule life...the struggle is real :faint:
 
How do you like the light bar itself? Does it seem like it's pretty high quality and will stand up to some heavy duty off roading? The price seems great on these.
 
There is no trimming for the Rago Fabrication 4Runner Hidden Bumper brackets on grill. You do have to trim on the side of the air valance to make room for the bracket as seen in the video.

When in installing, please call us immediately so we can walk you thru any issues you are having. We answer even on the weekends. =-)

We typically hear after the fact that a customer trimmed, used a heat gun, or altered the bracket before we could help them correct the problem.

Link is to the ditch bracket. All install videos show removal and replacing the bumper the glance over the actual mount install.

But you guys are 100% sure the only cutting is the inside right behind the bumper?

Also Is this no drill or do you need self taping screws?

Lastly Ive seen some people places say 32" 31.5" some say 31" light bars fit. Whats the correct size?

First off...I apologize for the confusion. I fixed the link.

There is not any trimming on the grille but there is trimming on the air valance in order for the brackets to fit.

There is no drilling. They mount to a factory bumper location. The brackets will fit both a 32" LED bar, 31.5" and some 30". There is the ability to adjust the brackets to fit the different sizes because it is slotted.

Thank you, this is my next upgrade will post pictures of the mounts when Im done. No drill hidden cuts and 32" light bar mounts is exactly what Im looking for.
 
Rago Fabrication lightbar brackets

Did the behind bumper lightbar brackets today, turned out great! From start to finish the job took an hour and half. I'll post pics once I figure out how to do it on my cell phone. Shout out to Rago Fab for their excellent customer support and great products.IMG_0475.jpg

Nice product but not worth $50 in my opinion. I spent $9.27 on mine and it took me about 10 minutes to put them in. Cool design and a good company. I will be buying their brackets to mount two spot lights in the near future.

Sorry, I never got the notification for this, or for anything in this thread for that matter until now. The one I have is from Amazon and it was very cheap pricewise. I am honestly dissatisfied with the color as its like a 6500K color output (like old school LEDs). The output is also kind of disappointing. I had a 20" light bar previously and that had a whiter light and better output. Maybe it's the bluish purple tint playing games with my eyes...
 
FWIW, I chose to trim my grill because the bracket was pushing up against it a bit too hard (enough to deform the bumper when reinstalling the upper clips). After I made those relief cuts in the grill, the bumper went on without any effort. I tried shimming the bracket, moving it within its mounting holes, etc so that I wouldn't have to trim such an expensive piece of plastic but in the end, I'm glad I did.
I ended up trimming out the grill entirely where the light bar itself sits, and pushed the light bar out as far as possible. This gave me the maximum light output possible.
