Cali spec differences

An extra cat and an A/F ratio sensor but it is still rated at 183hp like the rest of the country's Runners.

and those are the only differences? i would think the hp would be rated slightly lower becasue of the extra emmisions. i wonder if the ecu is different as well

I think some changes were done to the Cali spec ECU (that is another diff too) to change the fuel and timing curves to make up for the slightly stifled exhaust stream but it's not really a big deal on a truck engine making under 200hp.

So if that were true if I remove the restrictions with an upgraded exhaust. I should see bigger hp gains due to the more aggressive ecu tuning

I suspect once the ECU sees less exhaust restriction it'll back the timing up and I've seen more than a few dynos of upgraded exhausts on the V6 and the HP gains are up over 4000rpm and it's only about 3-5 to the wheels so it's not really noticeable and you have to be getting on it to use the few ponies.

If it's a Cali-spec truck it will have two cats instead of one toward the front of the truck or you can look at the sticker under the hood.
