Yep. Was a ton of fun, but I'm not sure I want to risk serious body damage again next year. Dunno, might still go for it. Really need a front locker though.

It wasn't his skid that fell off, it was the White 4th Gen that was with us. You might be able to make the trail with a rear locker and 33's but the 5th gens are pretty wide, so body damage is a much higher risk than our smaller 3rd gens. Definitely don't bring your RTT on that run.

No body damage, through dumb luck and minor cowardice. If I go back with a front locker I'm going to attempt that bit where I winched myself off the wall this time though, and likely do in my side panel.

And yeah, 4th gen definitely has a higher risk of body damage, and 5th gens even more. The narrower body is a definite advantage of the 3rd gens-I wish they 4th gen hadn't gotten wider, but I wanted the upgraded features. Having made the trail with only the rear locker and 33s I'd say that a better driver than I could do it without too much issue, but I definitely want 35s and a front locker before I do it again.

Less weight would be good. Unlikely to happen-all future mods (dual battery, onboard air, etc.) will just add weight.

In terms of lift, I'm open to suggestions. I know 35s will get me slightly higher. Only other thing I can think of to get my diff higher would be SAS, but that's not in my plans for the forseeable future.

You were saying your rear diff is lower than everyone else’s? We all pretty much have the exact same axle, so tire size is the only thing that’ll make a difference in rear diff clearance. 35’s are a big commitment if you truly want to eliminate rubbing. Totally worth all the work though.

35s are my next set of tires. I'm already chopped and trimmed, and running 4.56. I just need extended bump stops in the rear, and maybe a little more trimming. If anyone wants to buy my 33s I'll swap sooner rather than later

I think the other issue was that I had aired down to 13 psi-with my weight I should probably have stopped at 18.

I'm def with you on that. I probably would have done better with front tires that are not worn/bald on the outside. Mud terrain tires would really help and probably wouldn't have broke a cv but who knows. Def tackling it again next year. I'll have the m/t tires with 33's or maybe 35's and front lockers if funds are there. So many mods and not enough money. SAS, front lockers and 35's are the goal....

At least you know what your rig is capable of now man. You've come a long way since you were stuck in the mud in Anza in a stock 4runner.
