Calling All Build Threads

Exactly my point. Why are any other generations relevant? They should be segregated and then each gen sections has their own list of sub forums. I don't own any other gen than a 5th gen which is nothing like a 1st gen or even really a 4th gen. I'm not interested in sharing sub forums with them

For instance: under the 5th gen section would be a regional section broken up into north east, south east, Midwest, etc. then if I lived in Colorado, I could post up in that area that I'm running holy cross trail if anyone would like to join. Or maybe I want to sell my Baja roof rack that I'm obviously not going to ship. It's not that fun going through a sticky with someone selling a bumper in Nantucket, or tires in Tallahassee. Most of what's being sold on this forum can't really be shipped

thats so small minded. there is a huge wealth of information held by other generation owners, and what fun is it to only go trail running with identical copies of the same vehicles. your desires for segregation based on generation is troubling to say the least.

Hmm. A Bucks County 2011 4Runner Limited sub forum? I like it! Really like it. Can't wait for the meetings :clap2:

Lol Jesus dude relax. Just using an example. I've got a close group of friends I wheel with and none of them have 4runners. You act like you're the guy who has every answer for everything. Didn't mean to make you so butt hurt and go against the cool kids and their inner circle.

Anyways, I'm just trying to say there is little organization to the 5th gen section and just trying to make suggestions. Hope I didn't ruin your day!

So if you want your build represented in the updated build library then simply submit the information in the proper format in this thread. I will leave it open for a week or so and then announce a deadline. If you don't submit it then it won't be included.
So if you don't have a build thread up yet you should start a placeholder thread like ST1FLER did? Otherwise, if I start serious mods in a year I'm SOL?

What are the possibilities of a complete 5th gen section overhaul? Like adding subforums. Once you click into the 5th gen section, you could have different areas for builds, off topic circle jerking, regional sections for trail runs/ meet n greets, different areas for suspension tech, drivetrain, electrical, etc. kind of like the fjcruiser forums. Sharing these types of sub forums with the first gen guys just doesn't make sense to me. I don't know maybe I'm alone on this.

I'd have to agree with him.

That would be up to admin, not a mod. I will say that not too long ago some of those sub-sub forums you mentioned above existed in several sub forums. It was decided to delete and merge them into a larger group because of lack of use and interest. I forgot how many they got rid of but If I remember it was around 25-30 different places. There was a poll on which ones to keep, etc.

So if you don't have a build thread up yet you should start a placeholder thread like ST1FLER did? Otherwise, if I start serious mods in a year I'm SOL?
No. After this initial overhaul if someone wants to add their build then all they have to do is send me their info.
DannyLlama True, some builds are not much different than stock but to the owners they are modded builds! I am not about to get into judging whether this build is better than that build.
phillyd2 That is a good idea. Right now though I just want to update the build thread. Specifying the year is a no brainer. The model too. I chose color because there is a thread for every color and they are popular threads, so I guess color is popular. If you would look through the existing build sticky there is no designation for anything.

Last thing: It would be cool if those of you that are already in the existing build sticky would re submit your info and links. I clicked on several at random and there were a few that did not work. Thanks.

One small suggestion. I like the format, but wonder if each member included a very short list of mods they used in their build. For instance:

2014
TE
Super White
http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/163995-3wbdrivers-2014-te-build-thread.html
Suspension: Bilstein 5100
Steps/Sliders: Shrockworks
Bumpers: SSS Hybrid
Wheels/Tires: Yes
Roof rack: Baja Rack
Skids: Budbuilt

This way members could potentially preview build threads looking for the products they are interested in before they select one.

Or not. I'm easy. :becky:

Or have that information on the first page of their build. I changed mine today and linked everything on the first page. Also... searching will turn up a lot of info but we just have to "train" the newbies how to do that. [emoji48]

Valid argument. But please note I said preview BEFORE linking to build thread. I agree on making links in your first post to make it easier to navigate once they go there. But lets say someone wants to see who has done an Icon suspension. They could scroll down the list of builds looking for only those who have that listed before linking to their threads. It is just a suggestion. I'm easy either way. :pop2:

Remember: The guys who are already on the existing build thread sticky need to re submit their info in the new format please. It will make it much easier when trying to figure out what goes where.
