Calling all HID Conversion members!!! I need Help with HID Purchase!!!

Hey guys,

I've been doing some research on the HID conversion kits, and have gotten some great help from Jon, regarding the Raptor kit he purchased through DDM Tuning. The problem is, DDM wants almost as much for the shipping to Canada as the cost of the Bulbs themselves!

So, I've been looking on E-bay, to find some better deals, and have come across these:

I did.....as I stated above, DDM wants over $30.00 for shipping to Canada.....

I think I'd still go with DDM. Are you sure that's the cheapest shipping? That's pretty expensive.

35w, 6000k, H4 bulbs with ballasts.......shipping is USPS Priority Mail International (my only option it would seem) don't want to pay over $70.00 for stuff that you guys are getting for around $40.00. Getting really tired of getting price gauged on the shipping for all my stuff! Hope you can understand where I'm coming from??

I'm still waiting on my new headlight assemblies to come in, and find out what the Customs fees are going to be on top of my purchase price and shipping....

DDM is well worth it! I just got mine a few days ago love them, and they were very easy to install!

I agree that it's insane that the shipping is more than the product. The DDM kits have a lifetime warranty if that makes a difference.

Are you getting the Hi/Lo kit? I don't know how those really work. Does it increase the voltage going to the bulb when you activate the highs?

I'd say go for ones from ebay. Im rockin the ebay hids in my fogs and have had no problems with it. For my headlights, i bought a kit from my friend and i dont know what brand they are or where he got them from but I have had no issues with those bulbs either. I live in Hawaii so i know how it goes when it comes to shipping

Just to clarify, I do not have the DDM kit (yet). I'm rockin the Ebay $30 kit. Before you buy just get up with the seller and clarify that the high beam is also HID. The ones I have use a tiny little halogen for high beams and highs are completey worthless, wors than stock low beams with old bulbs.

I will be using the DDm Raptor kit as soon as these burn up, low beams are good enough for now.

As far as the DDM kits go, what additional hardware is needed?
Do I need the wire harness or is it supplied?
What about the Error eliminators?

Hey man, I got mine from VVME.COM. After talking to a couple of the other guys on here I decided to go with theirs because all the pictures make the kit out to look pretty solid. I've had mine for almost 6 months and I haven't had a problem yet. (6000k bi-xenon) I'm sure LINY4runner will chime in here somewhere too to back up VVME.

I just messaged all 3 sellers, and asked them if their kits are both High beam and low beam.......we'll see what they say.....

So after doing some digging, I'm liking the VVME bi-xenon kit. Bi-xenon being the only way to get high and low beam with HID in a single bulb housing.

Question for those with the VVME kit... To switch to brights is it just moving the shield around or whole bulb? Do you have projector retrofit or normal housing?

Not sure if I'm reading this right.....I have to turn the bulbs around or the shield to go from high to low beam????

No, your high and low beam switch adjusts it for you. You don't have to touch or mess with anything. The bulb simply moves positions in the housing and creates a high and low beam.

Yeah, it just moves in the housing man. I don't have a retrofit simply because I haven't taken the second step yet. There may be a retrofit in the future ,but its fine for the time being. No one ever flashes me or anything so I'm not in a big hurry to do it.

Yup I'll be getting these next. Probably going up to 55w/8000K too. I wish I would have found these first.

Fightman80- to further elaborate on the high/low operation of bi-xenon, the bulb sits in a small mechanical switch that pops it up and down for high or low changing the light pattern. Much better than going from a separate bulb and having to wait for it to warm up.
