Ok guys, I want to install a Viper 5706v alarm system into my 98. The install seems pretty straight forward, except for the tailgate roll down / roll up feature with the keyfob. In order to make this happen, you have to add an extra module DEI 529t. This module allows you to roll down or up (2) windows (only one direction). OR roll down and up (1) window (both directions). This is perfect for a sunroof or single rear window like the one on our rigs.
Here is my dilemma. The ideal place to wire this module is at the tailgate window switch, which is located on the center console on the 98s. While probing the wires behind the switch, I noticed that the switch “rests” at 12 volts(+) as opposed to a typical window switch for import vehicles “rests” at ground(-). There are (5) wires behind the switch which is also typical for power window switches. Can someone confirm for me that this switch does “rest” at 12 volts?
I’ve included a link to the wiring diagram for the module. If the switch does “rest” at 12 volts then I would refer to the Type B diagram, which now requires me to add a relay to the module to reverse the polarity. I believe, correct me if I am wrong but also add another relay since I want the up and down feature? I hope my explanation is not confusing…my head hurts.
