Camping reccomendations- new to area

New to the area and looking for suggestions, I am googling of course but just want to know if anyone would share any local knowledge. My wife wants to go camping in the next few weeks/months before our son makes his debut in July. Prefer non-campground rustic style camping. Living in Germantown, MD and 4 hours or so in any direction is fine. Thanks for the help.

Shenandoah National Park is my favorite. You can camp in RV, tent and cabins. In the Shenandoah Valley outside the park there are a lot of small campgrounds.
