Anyone capable of running my VIN through CARFAX? I just bought what I thought was a base model, but they say it's an SR5 with 22 entries. I'd really appreciate it....
Can anyone run a CARFAX for me?

Just an FYI, but I've come to suspect CarFax. When I traded my Scion in, I went by Car Max to get an estimate as the dealership said they would honor Car Max's estimate if it was higher than what they would give me for trade in value. Car Max runs a Car Fax report, and the three accidents I was in ( I hit a raccoon, and 2 separate deer...foggy mornings all) did not show up in the report. So take them "with a grain of salt"...

If the damage is under $1000 I don't believe it's reported.

The truck is in great shape, not worried about accidents. I'd just like to see the service records, is car fax that detailed?

Pretty sure truck has only been in minor fender benders, two drivers side doors are repainted....well.The only PO was an elderly couple, it was garaged.
Is it that weird to want to know what was done to it?

Carfax is a joke, only reported instances get recorded.
It`s not a mandatory, in fact, participants must pay, how f#cking ingenious is that, taking money from both sides.
Exactly why Colorado emission testing no longer reported to carfax.
Insurance companies report only significant loss only if claim was filed.

CarMax does not use CarFax they use AutoCheck which is different. Minor accidents don't typically show up in the system unless it was reported to the police or if another person, vehicle or personal property was involved (street signs, building, bicycle, etc.) Any frame repairs are reported and show up on the Autocheck report even if the accident might not. Obviously insurance companies should submit reports and they should theoretically show up on the history report but it's not a perfect system.

I'm interested in the history of the vehicle, there are 22 reports, I just figured it wasn't worth the $30 if someone could run the numbers.
Also curious that the truck was labeled an SR5 by carfax, but was never labeled as such on the vehicle. Is SR5 just upgraded goodies (power locks/windows, A/C, etc.)?

If you check craigslist or ebay, you can find people doing them for 2-3 bucks typically. You pay with paypal, and they'll email the report.
I do this for mileage checks, mostly. And not every state reports it, anyway. The car I bought in NorCal had mileage reported for emissions.

I wasn't interested in the validity of Carfax, just wanted to know what the history of the truck was. Bought from original owner, who had all service done by dealer. Looking into CL route, or may not even bother.
