Can I install my 3rd row seats from my 2012 into my 2016?

Just like the title says, I'm wanting to get a 2016. Dealer doesn't have what I want with the 3rd row. Can I take them out of my 2012 and install them into my 2016?

What about seatbelt mounts?

you will basically need to replace the back 2/3 of the interior. the parts from the '12 should all fit, but literally every surface, moulding/trim piece/door sils, bracket etc etc from the carpet to the top of the c-pillar trims will have to be changed, including the second row seats.

do-able, but having removed my 3rd row in favour of storage drawers, I can say it will be a huge undertaking.

There was a thread along these lines awhile ago and as the person started to figure it all out they gave up, cost was the main factor. Even with all the parts I think they determined all the holes for bolting parts and seat belts were NOT there. Of course it can be done with time and money, probably much easier to find a different 4Runner.

Thanks. My main question was about what's under the carpet. If the holes aren't there (can't believe Toyota would not do that) then it is outside my scope of operation.

I knew someone had done it, to correct my statement, SOME of the holes are not there, and he didn't add the rear air bags, so there is that. Take a look at this if you are serious about doing it, post 2.

I was referring to salong53 with the 2016, but an SR5 likely does not have black interior.

What are you looking for and how far are you willing to travel? Found mine at Team in Baton Rouge after months of looking, although obviously now there is less inventory in your area. Seems like it's worth the relatively small cost increase to get a new 3rd row with the airbags vs outfitting your existing 4Runner w/o the airbags.

I understand that the BR area is a priority in sending in new inventory. And the Team (I believe) lost their entire inventory.

I'm going to buy from my buddy. I'll keep waiting. I may just order a 2017 in a couple of months. Thanks for the help!

Good luck. Maybe he can locate what you want in So. Texas? Lots of inventory there and still within Gulf States.

I've looked into this for my 2014 trail. I pulled the interior apart and found the mounting bolts are there for the seats (some of the bolts are behind the sheet metal and need to be drilled out) but there are no mounting bolts for the seat belts. [MENTION=59079]jdemello[/MENTION] and others have done the swap but no one has posted what they did about the seat belts. As for the airbags - the side curtain airbag on mine extends to the D pillar so I don't know what others are referring to as "not having a third row air bag" it should be the same air bag on all models. Can anyone verify this?

Unless you want a trail edition I would recommend finding an sr5 or limited with the 3rd row option.
