Can someone measure up the cargo area dimensions?

More to the point of this thread: the cargo area is ... just about 6' long (I'm 6' and I've slept back there, but I usually sleep diagonal for a little extra room).

69" deep

41.5" between the wheel wells (could maybe squeeze 42")

34" Tall (it's rounded a bit, so approximately where the wheel ends it's 34")

bummer! i'm 6'5 and all i want to do is sleep in the back. might have to rig something up to sleep with the tailgate down. glad this finally got answered, thanks!

Are you willing to remove the rear seats bottoms (or even just one side of it)? That will get you a few more inches, and sliding the driver/passenger seat all the way forward would get you a few more. You'd need to build some sort of removable platform for that area, but it could be done...

i've thought about building something hinged, so when the back seats are in place it only takes up the rear cargo area, then when needed it can fold into place. i'm sure i would have to scoot the seats up, or at least the one wherever i'm sleeping.

I frequently have a mountain bike (or two) in the back of my 3rd Gen (289K miles w/ transmission trouble).

Also interested if the cargo space got shorter in length in the 4th Gen's. (I hope not).

Not sure the etiquette here but I didn't want to start a whole new thread figured just keep this weirdly resurrected one going.

I'm going to be borrowing an 06 4Runner and don't have access to the cargo are before I get:boxing: I'm picking it up out of state and seeing if there's room to transport.

But could someone tell me if its just me and nobody in the passenger seat what the longest board is from front to back that could fit NOT AN ANGLE.
Just call it 2 ft wide of a 1" thick board. Am I nuts to think a 10 Ft board would fit even if it goes all the way to the windshield over the dashboard if the seat is reclined? WIll have other things built up in the back.

Also the cargo door max height appears to be missing although I may have just been frightened with all the SEETHING RAGE on this post lol. Just tallest item that could fit in cargo area door.

you can also roll the back window down to transport, or strap it up on the roof bars
