Can someone tell me how to test a stereo.

Does anyone know a quick and easy way to test factory stereos to see if they work (or at least make the display work).

I have a few stereos laying around and I am looking to sale them but need to test them for functionality. I don't want to sale a stereo if I don't know that it works.

Is there an easy way to do this (besides putting them back in the vehicles they came out of-which would be hard since I don't have them anymore)?

Just find the hot lead and the ground and stick the wires to a 12V battery. About as simple as it can get. You may need to make some connectors to go on the pins of the stereo only has a pinned connector in the back and not a pigtail coming out the back. Something like a modified female spade plug to slip over the pin.

But, one of the guru audio guys may have a better idea than this. It's what I'd do, not knowing any better lol.

Get the hot and ground wires backwards and instant paper weight. Have on too loud for too long and you'll blow amp on one side. Used radios aren't worth much - why not just advertise - "believe working when removed for upgrade."
