can we have manual transmission back in 4runner?

Computer says no But I agree with you they should bring back the stick - my old 5spd '00 was pretty fun to drive.

I'd rather have a 5 speed stick too... But Toyota's gearing selections can leave you wondering what the engineers were smoking.

My Tacoma was a 5-speed V6. And the overall drive ratio was such that at 65 MPH, in 5th gear, the engine was turning ~2800 RPM. Way too high.

Oddly enough, the automatics of that vintage did not suffer that problem.

If you like the 120 platform and want a stick you could either get an FJC or a double cab Tacoma. Both are available with a 6m.

The miniscule number of people who would walk away from a 4runner because it doesn't offer a stick are not enough for Toyota to spend the money to bring in a stick shift 4runner.

This is exactly why I prefer the FJ over the 4runner. Better off road capabilities and a manual transmission. The 4runner to me has turned into a luxury sport utility, the 3rd gen gives the option of luxury with the limited and the bare necessities of the SR5 5speed V6 4x4. I'm not hoping for a 5speed in a 4runner I doubt it would do much good, toyota did the right thing by bringing the FJ and removing the 5speed from the 4runner.
