Can we please bring politics back?

Is there even any reason to talk politics?

I have attempted to get to the 'bigger picture' in other threads, and I most likely have just made others mad...not my intention at all.

The current policy, I see, is to just repeat any statement that flew off the top of your/my head, over and over and over and over...then its all magically real because I said it 100 times.

How can you argue with that.:lalala:

I too enjoy listening to the endless ideas/thoughts that the community has even if some ideas are 180* from my views.

If you cant discuss things rationally and from different view points what's the point, right?

And again, we can react to problems that arise...like most humans live their lives...Or you can dig deeper to try and find the root cause of why we are the way we are. That's all I have ever tried to do.

Agreed. We then wonder why things are getting more divisive and hostile. Personally I feel that the increasing Off-limiting of political discussion (in all aspects of life, not just this forum) is a big part of the problem.

If we can't even engage each other in casual discussion what hope is there of actually reaching some sort of meaningful compromise? Whether I agree with everyone here or not I do value the insight gained into others positions on issues and their reasoning behind it.

I just experienced it in one forum... they had an "anything goes" section, and soon religious and political lines were drawn. What started out as genial banter became bitter, aggressive attacks toward one another. The personal conflicts started to bleed out into other forums on the site. Finally, the mods got tired of it and just shut the "anything goes" section down and refuse to this day to even allow an off-topic section.

It was kinda fun for a while, until it wasn't. Some started digging up online dirt on each other and their families, posting it, and calling each other out for fist fights. Honestly, it got pretty creepy at the end.

I've seen this on other forums too. People finding out where other people work & tying to get them fired. It can get real ugly.

If you hate me that much, come meet me face to face & we can duke it out. I hate p#ssy keyboard tough guys. I grew up in NYC where snitches get stitches & I'm too old for that drama shit now.

But anyway, there's too much politics on FB as it is so I don't want it here. I love 4runners, modding & off-roading & that's all I come to this site for. I dont need politics bleeding into other areas either because people hate each other.

Plus I'd rather not know that you're a Libtard snowflake because Then I'd loose all respect for you! LOL :becky:

IMO the reason politics is banned on this forum is TDS on the controllers...

I find other forums do have these political off topic posts , and why I like it is ,, because we can understand peoples thoughts ,, from all across the USA on their concerns of how the goverment is functioning .. working folks ... not some B/S guy/gal on the networks ..

go to other forums with real working people.. learn much of how their treatment of the goverment is affecting them ..

get a better understanding of whats really changing ... bad or the great !!!

While politics has always been an easy source for quick debate, today's medium makes it worse. It's far easier to have a civilized debate face to face. You can counterpoint and dissolve any miscommunications quickly and easily. Online when people read something, there is enough time for them to draw their own conclusions on it and stew before responding. Thus their mind has already been made up even if the original point was misinterpreted. Much harder to go back and clarify when that has happened.

I think the main reason we have a “perceived” problem is nobody talks in person anymore. Most everything is online and your not worried about getting punched in the face anymore when you tell someone “*+#*^^{+*}^%^<>£”

Back before all the social media I used to talk politics all the time with people that disagreed with me. And we usually found middle ground on at least some issues.

But combine social media and the press and now you have a Them vs. Us situation and common ground is out the window.

People think they have a right to this or that. But in reality the BOR and Amendments are the only real Rights. Most everything else is a law or code based issue.
I have constantly reminded people that “your rights end when they infringe on others rights.” And thats when common sense and courtesy went a long ways. Now the first is so rare its a super power and the 2nd is almost non existent in big cities.

Oh what a difference 100 years makes in a country.
My wife and I sold our house in the city (Seattle suburb) and moved to our small cabin in the mountains. If people have a problem with you they usually come to you. Not tattletale because they are afraid to talk to people. Its very country living. Liberals and conservatives all can shake hands and talk politely. In fact a hunting buddy of mine is very liberal and he about made me piss myself when someone dropped the libtard bomb when they didnt like what he had to say, and he said “Sure, if your willing to admit there are centard and contards then yea I have no problem with you using the word libtard”.
But then again there is almost no TV or Radio reception out there. Maybe there is something to that.

With one rule, complain about a thread to moderators and get permanently banned. Pretty sure that was the mods only gripe, dealing with PM’s from snowflakes.

If you don’t like something, no one is forcing you to read it.

I don't know man. Imo you have to work pretty damn hard to get banned.

With the exception of Mom I can't think of anyone permanently banned for pissing off the mods (and then some).

This whole thread is basically a complaint against mod decisions and yet it isn't closed. Probably better to let folks vent somewhere.

You didn't get "jumped" by anyone or by any means, you made many emotional posts in the "second amendment" thread. Many of which were broad generalizations with a "your a gun nut and all gun nuts want to kill and all gun nuts are gun nuts and are stupid" theme.

Still banging the emotional, hateful "Gun nuts" drum. That may be your first clue to origin of your ban, eh?

The thread is still alive and all can go see your exact words for themselves.

As to why you got banned, the mods know the exact reason and can chime in if they like.

I've never been banned anywhere. I've never reported any content other than true spam.

It's not too hard to be respectful and post logical, non-offensive posts.

Doing so doesn't get you banned...

If you've found yourself banned, likely it's for a reason, and your direct actions caused it.

Like I said, anyone can go look at what people have posted and decide for themselves what's what. That's the beauty of this medium. People may forget what they post or choose to remember it differently, or be clouded by emotions- but every post lives on forever for all to see, out there in the ether...
