Can we use a weight distribution hitch?

I am looking into getting a travel trailer that comes with equalizer (weight distribution hitch) and sway bars. However looking in the owners manual it says that WDH is not recommended. The tongue weight of the camper is 460lbs, nearing our limit but its weight is only about 3800#. I am afraid I will be sagging like mad with that much weight on the rear anyway.

So are others using these or are they to be avoided? Any info would be great!

I know I have seen a few people recommending one while towing, on this forum and others. As of yet I haven't gotten a definite answer and it does concern me.

I wouldn't tow anything but a pop up trailer with mine. IMO you're pushing it. 3800# dry plus water and all the junk you take with you. You'll be over tongue weight in a heartbeat, then that's just the beginning of your problems.

I could be wrong, but I just don't consider these things tow rigs at all. If you do go this route and have an auto trans, make sure you have an external tranny cooler or you'll smoke it.

To answer your question. Yes you can use an EQ hitch on out rigs.
It will hold the rear up when setup properly.
They also transfer weight to the front wheels so you won't get the light steering feel.
